Nails

Acrylic Extensions
Acrylic nails are strong and durable. They can either be used as overlays or extensions.
Acrylic overlays give your natural nails a strong acrylic covering and a flawless base for a polish, gel polish or a nail design.
Acrylic extensions can be moulded to create any tip shape you choose and are the best way to get those extra long extensions.
An appointment for a full set of acrylic nails takes 45-50 minutes, but you’ll need to allow a further 20-30 minutes if you need removals as well.
You’ll find all our current prices on our individual salon pages.
Acrylic nails should last up to 3 weeks.
But with regular infills, they can last 6-8 weeks.
Acrylic infills are designed to prolong the life of your acrylic manicure by filling in any natural growth at the base of your nail.
Once applied, the infills are filed and shaped and the nails are repainted.
You’ll typically need infills every 2-3 weeks to keep your acrylics looking fresh.
Acrylic nails are made by mixing liquid monomer and powder polymer.
This mix is bonded to your natural nails with adhesive, then filed into shape and finished with your choice of colour or design.
H’onu’s technicians are skilled in working with acrylic nails to give you the best possible results.
BIAB
BIAB use a revolutionary new product that gives you a flawless finish on the surface while strengthening your natural nails underneath.
BIAB stands for Builder In A Bottle. It’s a gel, similar to a gel polish, but thicker,
stronger and more resistant to chipping.
You can have BIAB overlays, which give your natural nails a durable covering and create a flawless base for a colour or nail design. Or, if you want to add length, you can have BIAB extensions.
BIAB gel can be formed and shaped to create short-to-medium length nail extensions.
The extensions are ideal if your natural nails are brittle, if you’re a biter, or if you’ve had difficulty trying to grow them.
You’ll find all our current prices on our individual salon pages.
A BIAB manicure should last 3-4 weeks.
But, with infills, it should last for a further 2-3 weeks
With any kind of nail overlay, your natural nails keep growing underneath. And after 2-3 weeks, this natural growth will start to show at the base of your nails.
BIAB infills fill in the growth at the base of the nail. It’s then reshaped and repainted, so it will stay looking fresh for another 2-3 weeks.
No, BIAB is actually designed to support and strengthen your natural nails. This makes it ideal if your nails are brittle or you struggle to grow them.
And BIAB nails soak off with acetone, so your technician won’t need to use tools to remove them.
H’onu’s technicians are skilled in working with BIAB to give you the best possible results.

Gel manicures
Gel polish is more flexible than traditional nail polishes, which means it’s more
resistant to chips and lasts longer.
A standard gel manicure on your natural nails will take 40-50 minutes.
You’ll need to add extra time for removals, overlays or extensions.
You’ll find details of all the times and prices on our individual salon pages.
Your technician will apply the gel polish to your nails, then use a UV or LED light to seal and harden it. This process is called curing.
Gel polish can be applied to your natural nails, overlays or nail extensions to give you a beautiful finish that should last 2-3 weeks.
No, but it does need to be removed properly.
We’ll remove your gel polish by soaking it off in acetone.
When the polish is removed, we’ll cut and file your nails, then apply a protective base coat and some nourishing cuticle oil.
H’onu’s technicians are highly skilled to give you the best possible gel manicure.
Nail service add-ons

Cat eye nails
With their striking and mesmerising appearance, cat eye nails have become one of the hottest nail trends, worn by celebrities and style icons.
Cat eye nails have a subtle glittery finish with a metallic line or pattern. They got their name because they look like a cat’s iris.
The cat eye effect is created using a magnetic gel polish and a magnet. The magnet is used to attract the metallic particles to the surface while the polish is still wet.
You can add a cat eye effect to your manicure for an additional fee.
For details, check the prices on our individual salon pages.

Chrome nails
Chrome nails are the ultimate party accessory, with a stunning metallic finish that’s designed to reflect the light.
The nails have a cured gel polish base, which is then coated with a chrome powder to give a flawless shiny finish.
You can add chrome nails to your manicure for an additional fee.
For details, check the prices on our individual salon pages.

French tips and colour tips
Classic French tips have a natural base colour with a white tip. But with colour tips,
you can be creative and have any colour combination you choose.
You can add French tips or colour tips to your manicure for an additional fee.
For details, check the prices on our individual salon pages.

Nail art
Nail art is an additional service you can add to your manicure. It involves decorating
your nails with multi-coloured designs, patterns and pictures.
Our technicians can recreate designs you find online or in H’onu’s own nail art gallery.
Or they can work from your own description or drawing to give you something more unique and personalised.
It depends on the design you choose and the products required to create it. But you’ll find starting prices on our individual salon pages.
Beauty treatments
Beauty treatments are available at selected H’onu salons only.

Eyelash tint
An eyelash tint involves applying dye to your eyelashes to make them darker and more defined. The effect can be striking and dramatic, especially if your lashes are naturally light.
The eyelash tint appointment itself takes 30 minutes.
But you’ll need to come in for a patch test at least 24 hours before. This is for your safety and to make sure you don’t have any adverse reactions to the dye.
An eyelash tint will typically last about 4 weeks. This is because our eyelashes naturally fall out when they reach a certain length and new ones grow in their place.
As the tinted lashes fall out and the un-tinted lashes start to come through, you’ll notice your tint starts to lighten.
To make sure your tint lasts, we recommend you avoid exposing your lashes to the sun, chlorine (from swimming pools), and oil-based eye make-up.
Threading
Threading is a technique for removing unwanted facial hair. The method involves
trapping hairs between two threads and pulling them out at the root.
The treatment is targeted, which makes it ideal for precise hair removal, such as
eyebrow shaping and hairline definition.
Yes, threading is a quick and simple process that doesn’t involve harsh chemicals, so it causes less irritation than other methods of hair removal.
Any technique that involves removing hairs at the root can cause some discomfort.
Threading is most similar to plucking with tweezers.
After your treatment, the threaded areas will be red and puffy. This will take a few hours to go down, but applying aloe vera to the affected areas should help.
Typically, threading will last about 4 weeks.

Waxing
Waxing is an effective method for removing unwanted body hair. It involves coating the unwanted hair in warm wax, then using a cloth or paper strip to pull it out at the
root, leaving smooth skin behind.
The area must be clean, but avoid taking a bath or shower just before your appointment. This is because soaking will soften the hair and make it more likely to break off during the treatment.
Make sure your hair is long enough for the waxing to be effective.
If you’re taking medication that makes your skin more sensitive, you should take medical advice before waxing.
For best results, we recommend between 6-12mm, but closer to 12mm if your hair is very coarse.
Everyone’s skin reacts differently, but most people experience some temporary redness and minor irritation for a couple of days after the treatment.
The area might also be slightly itchy when the hair starts to grow back.
Typically, waxing will last about 4 weeks and you’ll be ready to wax again in 4-6 weeks.
Yes. Shaving cuts the hair off at the thickest point. This means, when the hair regrows, it will be thick and feel stubbly. Waxing pulls the hair out at the root, so when it grows back it will be new hair, which is softer and finer.
With regular waxing, every 4-6 weeks, some people also notice a general reduction in the growth of new hair.
